This website aims to provide a critical perspective on world literature, both contemporary and classical. Much of this will be European in origin because of that continent’s position in the vanguard of the recent resurgence, in particular, of short fiction.
I enjoy reading literature that addresses, directly or obliquely, the artistic act of creation itself, that examines how art can illumine human truths. This is by no means a prescription; there is only one prerequisite for literature: that it be written with honesty, that it be true.
My philosophy could be described as pluralistic, because every absolute is one half antinomy (a condition necessary for art). For every YES you will find, search long enough, an equally compelling NO. Literature will not be caged. Literature rests uneasy under any single rubric.
